Holiday Roadside Safety Check Set

Illinois State police will be out in Kane County over the Fourth of July.

 

The Illinois State Police, District 15, will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check on Interstate 90 and Route 31 over the Fourth of July.

Illinois State Captain Joe Perez said officers will be conducting the safety check from 11 p.m., Tuesday, July 3 to 4 a.m., Wednesday, July 4.

Officers are looking for drivers operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence, Perez said.

Illinois has a zero tolerance for impaired driving. Alcohol and drug impairment are significant factors in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.

Roadside Safety Checks are designed to keep roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
