FBI Seeking 'Wandering Bandit' Wanted in Serial Bank Robberies

The "Wandering Bandit" is believed to have committed a string of bank robberies in Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi. In one instance, he wore a cowboy hat.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 in their search for the "Wandering Bandit," who is wanted for at least four recent bank robberies in three states, including one in Huntley.

The man most recently robbed a Heartland bank at 12101 Regency Square Parkway in Huntley on Friday, according to the FBI. He began a string of robberies Feb. 24 at the First Community Bank and Trust, 650 West Wilmington Road in Peotone, Illinois, then robbed two more banks in Roselawn, Indiana, on April 4, and in Diamondhead, Mississippi, on April 10, the FBI said.

He is described as white or Hispanic with olive skin tone, approximately 6 feet tall and 190 pounds and is estimated to be in his 20s or early 30s, according to the FBI. He has also been seen wearing several different hats, including a straw cowboy hat, and was spotted driving a gray or silver late model Honda Accord.

In previous robberies, he has approached a bank teller and presented a note and/or made a verbal demand for money, the FBI said. He has not displayed or implied a weapon, and there were no injuries in connection with any of the robberies, according to the FBI.

Anyone with information about the Wandering Bandit is asked to contact the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700, or contact their local law enforcement agency.
