Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Kane County

A 21-year-old Sycamore woman died Wednesday in a motorcycle accident on Route 20 in Elgin Township.

Angela Hansen, of the 1600 block of  Sparkhayes Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Kane County Sheriff’s office said.

Hansen was driving a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle stopped on Plank Road facing north while waiting to make a turn east on Route 20, sheriff’s deputies said. The motorcycle began turning, accelerated rapidly then crossed the roadway and struck a semi-trailer.

Hansen was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the semi truck, Christopher Portner, of Stockton, was not injured.

No tickets have been issued and the crash remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and Illinois State Police Truck Inspectors.

A crash between a motorcycle and semi-tractor killed one person Wednesday afternoon, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Route 20 and Plank Road in unincorporated Elgin, according to a release. Route 20 from Plank Road to Nessler Road is closed while sheriff’s deputies investigate.
