Cary Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

William Hurley of Cary was killed following the two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in unincorporated Marengo.

A 55-year-old Cary man is dead after police said his motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck at the intersection of Meyer Road and Route 20 in unincoprorated Marengo, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release.

Police said William Hurley of Cary was taken to Centegra Woodstock where he was then transported by Flight For Life to Condell Hospital following the crash, which occurred at 9:01 a.m. Sunday. He later died.

The accident happened while the pick-up truck was turning left from Meyer Road onto Route 20 and collided with Hurley's 2007 Suzuki Motorcycle, according to the news release

The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet pick-up truck, Alifonso Morales, 48, of Marengo, said he "observed the road to be clear," according to police. Hurley told police he saw the truck pull out onto Route 20 in front of him but was unable to avoid the crash, according to the news release.

Morales was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash. Hurley was wearing a helmet. The sheriff's office reports that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
