No one was injured in a garage fire Friday afternoon in Crystal Lake.

Firefighters responded to a blaze at 650 Nottingham Lane at 3:08 p.m. A preliminary investigation showed the fire started on the outside of the garage in the back of the home, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Department press release.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control by 3:18 p.m. The fire was contained to the corner of the garage and the house was deemed habitable. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the blaze remains under investigation.

The owners of the house were home at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the blaze. The fire caused the siding to melt on a nearby house.

Initial damage estimates are $20,000 for the original structure and the residence next door sustained $1,000 damage to its siding.

Crystal Lake was assisted by fire departments from Algonquin, Huntley, McHenry, Nunda Rural, Cary, Lakewood, East Dundee, Fox River Grove, and Wonder Lake.
