Huntley Tea Party Blog From the Convention

Thoughts on RNC by Donna Roche

While C-Span (Channel 14) was the only channel that showed the full Republican Convention, I watched and was especially touched by some of the words of the speakers.

Ted Cruz spoke about not wanting America to go the way of Greece, and how the U.S. is headed that way with its high national debt. He said Republicans will not “go quietly.”

Governor Nicki Haley of South Carolina told how her state passed a law saying voters needed to show ID to vote, and President Obama sued them. She told about the Boeing plant moving to S.C. so as not to have to use union labor, and President Obama sued them to protect “his bullying union bosses.”

Between the fine speeches, there were videos of business owners telling their impressive stories and ending with something like “my name is … and I did build this.”   These statements were made in reference to the July 13th speech by President Obama when he told supporters that if you have a small business, “you didn’t build that.”

Rick Santorum spoke poignantly about his daughter with special needs.  He would go on to say that we have a basic God given right to life and that “America still has one political party that lifts up all of God’s children, the born and unborn.”

Mrs. Romney spoke of her marriage and how her husband, through challenges and hard work, succeeded again and again, more than they could ever have imagined.  She promised that as president, “This man will not fail--- he will lift up America.”
