Mother's Day-Aging With Dignity

Help for Families Caring for Aging Parents

Visiting Mom on Mother’s Day can be a bittersweet experience. You want it to be a happy day as you thank her for all she did for you. Yet she seems more confused and forgetful.

She was always proud of her appearance, but now she doesn’t seem to care. Her home, which was always immaculate, is a mess. You worry about her safety living alone at home, whether she is taking her medicine in the right amount and at the right time, or whether she should still be driving.

Mom took care of you. Now it’s your turn to help her. The time to have "the conversation" and develop a plan to address her needs is now.  Perhaps it is as simple as having someone come in for a few hours each day to help with cleaning, errands, and prepare meals.

Geriatric Care Managers are experts in helping families and their elderly loved ones through this process. For information, call Nancy Carey, RN, at (847) 295-3811 or visit www.NSSeniorCare.com
