Grafton Township Flags - Please HELP

Grafton Township Flags are in need of replacement, and a group that can assist with proper ceremonial disposal. Please read and share, so we can find the right volunteer group!

Dear Grafton Residents,

Many of you may recognize my name as your local... and vocal Deputy Assessor. Today I am writing to you for help.

I am usually the person that raises and lowers our flags when directed by the state for holidays, loss of life, honoring our fallen, or other government and military purposes.

When lowering the flags due to the Boston Marathon tragedy, I noticed that the POW Flag is tattered and torn. When discussing the matter with the township supervisor, it was mentioned that a new POW flag is $30.00 and that the township funds do not currently allow for the purchase of a new flag until after the new taxes are deposited into the township funds.

To me - this is unacceptable, and I will personally donate the money needed to buy a new POW flag. My father served in Vietnam, and was awarded one of his  Bronze Stars for his part in rescuing over 150 POW's. Every POW, every service man and woman deserve to see flags flying that represent our respect and honor of their service, and our country.

So here is what I am asking the Grafton Community to do:

1. Please help me identify a local Boy Scout or Girl Scout Troop, a Cub Scout Pack, VFW, or Veteran Group that would like to help me with the proper ceremonies, care, disposal and respect of our Township Flags.

2. Please help me identify the most cost effective source for buying flags when they are required to be repurchased, and so that I can purchase one ASAP.

3. Please help me identify donors for future purchases of flags when the time comes.

I would appreciate any direction and introductions that will help ensure our flags, our veterans, and our service personnel receive the respect that they so rightfully deserve.

Best regards,

John Collier, CIAO
Deputy Assessor
and proud son of "My Hero and Vietnam Veteran" dad!
