Snow Cleared on Roads, Now Watch Out for Icy Conditions

Wind chill advisory in effect.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office lifted travel restrictions early Thursday but warns to look out for icy roads.

Route 47, north of Route 72, is now open, but there will be secondary and county roads in western Kane County that may have a considerable amount of snow on them, Sheriff’s Deputy Pat Gengler said.

Huntley, and surrounding communities, may have been one of the hardest hit areas in the Chicago suburbs with 21.1 inches of snow measured in Woodstock, according to the National Weather Service.

Today, a wind chill advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. The NWS reports wind chills could drop to 31 degrees below zero in McHenry County.

Consolidated School District 158 canceled school for Thursday. Authorities warn not to let children play outside today due to the frigid temperatures.
