No Power At Park District

Huntley Summer Camp closed for today.

The Huntley Park District staff is busy calling parents to pick up their children from summer camp this morning due to a power outage.

"We are a victim of the power outage so we cancelled our programs this morning as our emergency lighting batteries are waning," said Thom Palmer, executive director of the Huntley Park District.

"Parents are picking up their kids now, but we are keeping them safe and sound," Palmer said. "It is so organized and so well run regardless of what happens."

There are about 150 children in the summer camp program and many arrive as early as 6:30 a.m. The storm that rolled through the area at about 8 a.m. this morning resulted in a loss of electricity.

Palmer said parents who are at work need not worry; park staff will ensure their children are cared for.
