More Road Construction To Make Your Day

If the Route 47 construction gives you a headache, you’d better invest in a big bottle of aspirin to handle another construction project—this one on Interstate 90.

Preliminary work started last week and continues this week on the $65 million project. A total of 27 miles of roadway and 25 bridge segments will be repaved and resurfaced, the Illinois Tollway stated in a release.

The project should be completed by the end of the year.

Pre-stage work will be complete by the end of April in the 17-mile section between Genoa Road and U.S. Route 20 and is expected to be complete by mid-April in the 10-mile section between the Elgin Toll Plaza and Barrington Road, the release stated. The work will require occasional closures at various entrance and exit ramps throughout the project.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Transportation reports the following work will take place this week on Route 47:

 -Weather permitting; pavement striping is scheduled today on Main Street, west of Route 47; on Algonquin Road, west of Route 47 and on Kreutzer Road, south of Route 47.

-IDOT Crews will begin working on sanitary sewers and water mains on the east side of Route 47 between Main Street and Kenneth. Driveways may be blocked temporarily as they cross, but will be restored in a timely manner. Expect delays.

 -IDOT Construction workers will be working on pavement removals on the east side of Route 47 between Dean Street and Main Street. IDOT plans to keep access open to Dean Street, Mill Street, and Main Street throughout this process.
