Memorial Day: What's Closed, What's Open

Find out what is closed on Memorial Day.

In honor of Memorial Day, many offices and agencies are closed.

  • All government offices are closed Monday, May 28. This includes the village of Huntley, McHenry County, state of Illinois and federal government.
  • District 158 schools all will be closed for Memorial Day. District 158’s last day of school is June 1.
  • Area police and fire departments will be open on Memorial Day. Contact 911 in the event of a police- or fire-related emergency.
  • The Huntley Area Public Library will be closed. Algonquin Public Library District will be closed Sunday, May 27, and Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.
  • Banks are closed today. ATMs remain open.
  • The Huntley Chamber of Commerce will be closed on Memorial Day.
  • The Post Office is closed today and there is no mail delivery.
  • Businesses are operating on their own hours. Please check in advance to see whether they are open.
