McHenry County Homeless Count Being Conducted

Agency conducting survey this week.

The McHenry County Continuum of Care for the Homeless Committee, consisting of representatives from agencies, organizations and businesses that work together to fight homelessness in McHenry County, is organizing its 12th annual count of the homeless individuals and families to be conducted from Wednesday, January 23 to Thursday, January 24.

This “point-in-time” survey has been done during the last ten days in January for the past nine years.  The 2012 count found a total of 210 homeless people in McHenry County.  The 2013 McHenry County homeless count will be conducted over a 24-hour time period covering Wednesday, January 23rd through Thursday, January 24th, through surveys at shelter sites, as well as through information provided at other locations where people that are homeless may access supportive services or just have a place to stay out of the elements.
