IDOT Urges Drivers to Obey Rules of Road

Route 47 road construction in Huntley is a mess, but state and local authorities ask motorists follow basic rules.

The village of Huntley and the Illinois Department of Transportation ask motorists traveling on Route 47 not to block cross streets.

This week’s traffic update stated the construction will continue to cause major traffic back-ups, but drivers need to obey the rules of the road, authorities said in a release. This includes keeping cross streets clear, the release stated.

IDOT is doing the following projects this week:

-Work on sanitary sewers and water mains on the East side of Route 47 between Main and Algonquin continues. Driveways may be blocked temporarily as they cross but will be restored in a timely manner. Expect delays.

-Crews will be working between Kreutzer Road and Main Street so watch for flaggers and truck traffic. IDOT plans to keep access open to Dean Street, Mill Street, and Main Street throughout this process.

-Watch for the installation of new streetlights along the west side of Route 47 between Algonquin Road and Vine Street.
