IDOT Puts Finishing Touches on Route 47

Driving on Route 47 should be much smoother now that most of the construction is completed on the newly widened roadway, Illinois Department of Transportation officials said.

Crews will be striping the road, between Mill Street and the southern limits, this week and IDOT asks motorists to be alert for flaggers.

New lanes will continue to open up at the north end of the project, according to IDOT’s weekly updated.

This week, all traffic lanes are anticipated to be open, according to IDOT.

IDOT expects to do the remaining work on the project, including landscaping, next spring.
