The Huntley Park District recently was named a distinguished accreditation agency by the Accreditation Review Board of Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.
This is the highest accreditation possible in the state of Illinois.
“The staff and Board worked diligently over a two year period to complete this process, demonstrating our commitment to sound business practices as a local governmental agency,” said Huntley Park District Executive Director Thom Palmer. “This accreditation confirms our commitment to providing excellent programs, services, events, facilities and parks to our residents and visitors, and we appreciate the recognition from our state associations.”
By dedicating the time to successfully complete the accreditation process, the Huntley Park District has shown a commitment to meeting the highest standards in the park and recreation profession. Agencies are reviewed in general management, finance and business, operations, facilities and parks, personnel, recreation services and legal.
Key components of the accreditation process were the district-wide Comprehensive Plan and the American with Disability Act park and facility audits, both completed in 2011. A complete review of current policies and the development and recommendation of required polices were provided by the staff to the Board of Commissioners.
