Huntley High School's 'Orchesis' Presents Annual Showcase

Showcase starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7 to 9.

 

Orchesis, Huntley High School’s Dance Club will present its annual showcase at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Feb. 7-9.

Advance tickets are $5, or admission is $7 at the door. The show will be held in the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Rd., Huntley.

This year's show, “Unspoken,” features many styles of dance including hip hop, modern, lyrical, tap, jazz, and Indian, according to a District 158 press release. 

The Huntley High School Orchesis program began in 2008 with the focus of introducing high school students and the community to dance as an art. Orchesis consists of approximately 20 dancers in grades 9-12, the release states.

Each year Orchesis auditions two student choreographed dances at the Illinois High School State Dance Festival.

In 2010, the group was selected to perform among the top 15 dance programs in the state. The Huntley dancers look forward to participating in the dance festival again this year, the release states.
