Huntley High's Class of 2012 Leaves Behind a Green Legacy

The class raised money for the project adding landscaping to the high school's grounds.

Justin Veach graduated from the old Huntley High School in 1997, back when the senior class had 63 students.

He was in the last class to graduate. The current Huntley High School, on the Harmony Road campus opened that fall.

Veach doesn't remember what, if any, senior gift his class presented. But he had a hand in the Class of 2012's senior class gift.

He arrived on campus Friday morning with a crew to plant about $2,000 worth of trees, shrubs and flowers. The senior class raised the $2,000 throughout the year.

Veach Landscaping, based in Huntley, is a family business that began in 1984. Jason Veach got a call from Huntley resident, Kathleen Wiedenfeld, whose son graduated last week, asking if he would help with the senior class gift.

As an alumni, he was happy to help out.

The landscape was added to the entrance 8 at the high school. Veach matched the plantings to those located at the main entrance.
