High Winds, Heavy Rain Hit Area

The National Weather Service predicts a 50 percent chance of rain in today's forecast.

Storms swept the area last night causing power outages for many and high wind gusts.

Wind gusts of 68 mph were reported in Lake in the Hills around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. And heavy rain in Algonquin accounted for nearly an inch of rain in 30 minutes Tuesday with a total of 1.75 inches of rain measured around 1.75 inches around 9:30 p.m.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for McHenry County. There is a 50 percent chance of rain showers after 10 a.m., according to the NWS. Temperatures are predicted to hold steady around 69 degrees.
