Former CL Woman Sentenced to 14 Years in Attempted First-Degree Murder Case

Carrie Gil sentenced this week in a McHenry County courtroom.

A former Crystal Lake woman was sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder, McHenry County State’s Attorney officials said.

Carrie Gil, 46, was convicted earlier this year of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated arson. Authorities alleged she started a fire in her home as her boyfriend slept.

The Northwest Herald reported the victim wrote a statement that was read in court.

Gil was also sentenced to 12 years for the aggravated arson, to run concurrently. She must serve 85 percent of the sentence.
