Elderly Couple Stabbed, Killed in Marengo Home

The 27-year-old Marengo man accused of stabbing an elderly couple in their home lived only a couple blocks away from the murder scene.

A Marengo couple in their 80s and the Marengo man accused of stabbing them are all dead after an attack in the couple's home Tuesday night.

John G. Feldkamp, 83, died at his home in the 7500 block of Somerset Drive after the attack. His wife, Audrey J. Feldkamp, 81, was taken by helicopter to St. Anthony's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to the news release.

The couple's son, Scott Feldkamp, 54, who the Northwest Herald is reporting lived in Florida and was visiting his parents at the time of the attack, also was stabbed during the attack and was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Scott Feldkamp shot and killed the 27-year-old Marengo man who police said entered the home and proceeded to stab Scott Feldkamp and his parents. The McHenry County Sheriff's Department identified the murder suspect as Doran W. Bloom, 7757 Sommerset Drive, Marengo, which was only a couple of blocks from the Feldkamp's home.

According to McHenry County Court public access website, Bloom has past convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol and retail theft, as well as several traffic violations for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday. Marengo Rescue Department, Harvard Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Flight for Life also responded to the scene, according to the release.
