Most people experience back pain at some point in their life, but for some, it may be so severe they feel there are no more options? Spinal cord stimulation may be the answer. Join Dr. Shingo Yano, an independent physician on the medical staff at Centegra Health System specializing in pain management, as he discusses how spinal cord stimulation is used to exert pulsed signals to the spinal cord to control chronic pain. “Is Your Pain Spiraling Out of Control?” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

The A to Zs of Kidney Health

For some, managing kidney health can lead to hundreds of questions. A normal kidney has many jobs, including filtering blood, regulating minerals within the blood and producing hormones. If the kidney stops doing its job, one can be left with multiple health problems. Join Dr. Ravi Damaraju, an independent nephrologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, as he discusses the preventive steps to avoid kidney failure and chronic kidney disease as it relates to diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and other chronic diseases. “The A to Zs of Kidney Health” will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

Dance to the Beat of Your Heart

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. From exercising to smart eating habits to genetics, there are many factors that affect having a healthy heart. Join Dr. Douglas Tomasian, a cardiologist on staff at Centegra Health System, as he explains how to keep one’s heart healthy for many years to come. “Dance to the Beat of Your Heart” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

Thumbs Down to Arthritis

Arthritis is a painful and common problem that causes inflammation and cartilage loss within the joints of the human body. The pain can prevent simple actions, such as opening a water bottle, using a pen and even pulling a zipper. Join Dr. Timothy G. Havenhill, an orthopedic surgeon on staff at Centegra Health System, as he discusses ways to relieve pain and provides treatment options for arthritis in hand and finger joints. “Thumbs Down to Arthritis” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.
