“How Healthy is Your Teen’s Heart?”

Active adolescents can have dangerous heart problems with no symptoms. Centegra Health System offers echocardiogram (ECHO) screenings for teens ages 13 to 18, designed to detect heart abnormalities. Eleven percent of ECHO screenings completed in McHenry County have found abnormalities in children. Dr. R. David Halstead, a pediatrician with Centegra Physician Care, will discuss how ECHO screenings can potentially save a child’s life. “How Healthy is Your Teen’s Heart?” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

“Heal Your Heel”

Do the simple actions of walking, hiking, running or even just standing seem to be impossible because of heel pain? Dr. Amie Haracz, an independent podiatrist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, addresses the many signs of heel pain, options for treatment and how to get back to the simple activities in life again. “Heal Your Heel” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

“Big Incisions are ‘Hystery’”

Women who are considering hysterectomies now have an alternative to an open procedure. Laparoscopic and robotic surgery offers women less pain, a faster recovery time and a smaller scar than traditional surgery. Dr. Darby Murphy and Dr. Alissa Erogbogbo, obstetricians and gynecologists with Centegra Physician Care, will speak about laparoscopic hysterectomy. “Big Incisions are ‘Hystery’” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

Space is limited and light refreshments will be served during these lectures. Register by calling 877-CENTEGRA (877-236-8347).
