Leggee Elementary Receives Exxon Mobile Grant

Local businessman James Drendel, owner of the Mobile on Illinois Route 47, helped secure a $500 grant for Leggee.

Leggee Elementary School has received a $500 grant from ExxonMobil’s Education Alliance Program to support the school’s math and science programs.

The school, located at 13723 Harmony Rd., received the grant because of James Drendel, owner of Drendel’s Corner Mobile, 13280 S. Illinois Highway 47, Huntley, according to a District 158 press release issued Wednesday.

Drendel worked with school officials to secure the grant and awarded the $500 check to Leggee Principal Scott Iddings, the press release stated.

“Scott Iddings works hard to make learning interesting and fun,” Drendel said. “As a Mobil retailer, I am proud to help the young people of Huntley.”

The ExxonMobil Education Alliance Program is designed to provide station managers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.

ExxonMobil believes that as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

Drendel met stringent eligibility criteria before apply for and being awarded the grant, including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.

Leggee Elementary received one of 2,400 grants available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation, according to the release.
