Balmy Thanksgiving Keeps Golfers On Course

Whisper Creek Golf Course workers were busy on Wednesday scheduling tee times for Thanksgiving Day morning as weather forcasts predicted a sunny and warm holiday.

Some people are thinking turkey today.

Others are planning holiday shopping excursions.

But when Mother Nature delivers a welcome dose of sunny, warm weather local golfers can't pass the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving morning on the links.

A handful of golf enthusiasts were honing their game Wednesday at the Whisper Creek driving range. The course had a steady stream of players, as well, even though temperatures hovered around 40 degrees.

But Pro Shop Manager Dave Bell confirmed Whisper Creek Golf Club, 12840 Del Webb Blvd., was filling up tee times for Thanksgiving morning - most from 9 to 11 a.m. - as the weather forcasts promised sunny skies and temperatures in the 50-degrees range.

Some of the golfers on the range joked that they should be at work instead, but couldn't resist stealing away for what good be their last shot at the local course.

Whisper Creek is scheduling tee times throughout the weekend, and the pro shop is holding its own Black Friday sale.
