No Injuries Reported in Early Morning Fire

The fire occurred at 625 South Hubbard St. in Algonquin.

No one was injured in a fire that started in an Algonquin home early today.

Firefighters responded to 625 South Hubbard Street in Algonquin around 1:29 a.m. Monday after a resident found smoke coming from a wall of his home, according to an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing from the roof — near the chimney — and the blaze was found in an inside wall, according to the news release. Once extinguished, fire crews had to cut a hole out of the roof to let the smoke out of the attic area, according to the news release.

Total damage is expected to be under $10,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire departments from Carpentersville, West Dundee and Fox River Grove assisted with the blaze.
