Sun City Huntley an Entertainment Mecca

Retirement community features a variety of shows, performances and plays open to the public at large.

Sun City Huntley has lots of entertainment to offer and the concerts, theater, choirs and special events are not just for Sun City residents.

Sun City has a whole schedule of events throughout October and November, into the holiday season that are open to the public.

Prairie Lodge

12880 Del Webb Blvd.

More than 130 exhibitors ranging from handyman services, home improvement, travel and tours, physical therapy, financial planning and much more. Free admission. Open to the public.

 

Spooktacular Wine Fest

1:30 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27

Fountain View Center

This is a Halloween-themed afternoon of wine tasting celebrating the great wines of the world. Featuring over 60varieties, it’s a wine-lover’s dream. A ticket entitles you to you preferred wine choices, an array of cheeses, breads, fruits and vegetables plus a keepsake wine glass. Come and sample, it’s an experience for wine connoisseurs of every level. Magician Joe Diamond will mingle and perform magic tricks between 2:15 to 3:45 p.m.

Tickets are $10 per person pre-registration / $15 per person day of event. General Public Tickets have an additional $5 surcharge added.

 

Let’s Dance Swing Band

7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30

Drendel Ballroom

Let’s Dance Swing Band is an 18-piece band comprised of members of our Sun City Concert Band. Over the past two years the band has a strong, growing following. Some come to dance, others to watch. Get ready to ‘swing’ or waltz or jitterbug because there is something for everyone!  (wear a Halloween costume if you’d like!)

Tickets are $8 per person pre-registration / $13 per person day of event. General Public tickets have an additional $5 surcharge.

 

My Fair Lady Presented by the Theatre Company of Sun City

Performances: 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 and Friday, Nov. 16; 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. Tickets are available now at the Drendel Breakout Room. For more information call847-515-8545.

 

BritBeat

7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20

Drendel Ballroom

Take a trip back to 1964 with BritBeat’s tribute to the Beatles. With mop tops, retro costumes, vintage instruments and harmonizing vocals, BritBeat Beatles Tribute Band performs all of the memorable Beatle hits from the sixties. Their British style, charisma and Liverpudlian character creates the ultimate Beatles Tribute concert experience. They display the same youthful excitement and boyish charm as the original ‘Fab Four’ to recreate the electrifying performances made by the Beatles when they first came onto the American scene and started the ‘British Invasion’ and ‘Beatlemania’.

General Public Tickets have an additional $5 surcharge added.

Holiday Harmonies with Encore

7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29

Drendel Ballroom

Join "Encore!", the traveling ensemble of the Buffalo Grove Singers, as they celebrate the season with their winter show, "Holiday Memories". Enjoy selections such as, "Christmas on Broadway", "Sleigh Bells", "Baby, It’s Cold Outside", "I’ll Be Home for Christmas", "Let There Be Peace on Earth", and more. (There will be some humorous selections as well). "Encore!" is an award-winning singing ensemble that won the national "Sing 2011" competition and is looking forward to their return engagement at Sun City Huntley.
