Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Huntley

Between three to six inches is expected for some areas under the advisory by later this evening.

A winter weather advisory will take effect starting at noon today through 9 p.m. tonight for Huntley and much of the Chicago suburbs. 

The winter storm is expected to bring with it rain or wet snow starting early in the afternoon and switching to mainly wet snow later this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. 

Snow will continue into the evening commute hours and is expected to be heavy at times, according to the NWS.

Huntley is expected to get 2 to 4 inches of snow today and then another 1 to 3 inches tonight, according to the NWS.

Across the advisory area, between three to six inches is expected by late evening. There is also a slight chance of thunder snow and in that case, snowfall accumulations could be more than six inches.

In addition, wind gusts could reach as high as 40 mph making the evening commute treacherous. 

The National Weather Service reminds drivers to prepare for snow-covered roads, limited visibility, elevated travel times and to use extra caution when traveling.
