Summertime Is Almost Here

A list of Huntley events all summer long.

This week’s warm weather is a pleasant reminder that summer is right around the corner.

And there’s a lot going on in Huntley this summer.

Barb Read is busy organizing the grand opening of this year’s Farmer’s Market on May 28.

This season will have more vendors and new items, like kettle corn, said Read, management assistant at village hall.

May 28- Plant Your Garden Day at the 1st Farmers Market of the Season!

Buy locally grown produce, farm fresh eggs, fresh baked good, organic soaps, gourmet dog treats and lots of annual and perennial plants for your yard. There will be a craft fair, free entertainment, a kids’ seed planting area and much more. This first Famers Market will be held from 8am to 1pm.

May 30- Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Sponsored by the Huntley American Legion. The parade kicks off from the Municipal Complex at 11 am and continues down Main Street, ending with the ceremony on the Square. If your group would like to participate, go to the village’s website and download the registration form.

 June 11- Public Safety Day at the Market

Bring the kids to ride in the Huntley Police Bike Rodeo from 11am to 1pm or try out the interactive items with the Huntley Fire Protection District while you shop the market.

June 12- The HYSO 6th Annual — Run Thru the Sun

Try a 10K, 5K (Walk/Run) & Kids 1 Mile (14 & under) this summer. For more information, go to www.active.com or www.huntleyyouthsports.org

June 26- The Healthbridge 11th Annual—RoadRunner’s 5K

July 2- All American Family Fun Day at the Farmers Market

10 am—2 pm

Decorate your bike/pet/stroller/self then join us in the New and Improved Around the Block Parade. There will be kids’ activities, face painting, free entertainment and food and fun for everyone!

July 4- Huntley’s Annual Fireworks Show

The show will be held at dusk at the Huntley Outlet Mall.

July 14- Free Concert in Deicke Park—Brit Beat

Enjoy this tribute to the Beatles sponsored by American Community Bank (Rain location: Cosman Cultural Center). The concert will be held from 7-8:30pm.

July 30- Free Corn Boil at the Farmers Market

August 19—20- Weekend of Valor Quilt Show

A two-day celebration of quilting and service will feature over 50 quilts on display for viewing. There will be workshops and raffles. August 27- Antique Farm Equipment Display at the Market

September 23—25- Huntley Fall Fest

October 8- Fall Harvest Celebration at the Market

Celebrate the end of the season and join us at the market for pumpkin decorating, kids crafts, a craft fair and special events throughout the day.

October 8- Coach Tomaso Celebration Walk & 5k Fun Run

Join this year's Carl Tomaso Sports Complex in the Talamore Subdivision and help raise funds for the  local Shop with a Cop Program.
