St. Mary Knights Raise Hundreds of Pints of Blood

The grand total for the Knights of Columbus blood drives in 2012 is 340 pints.

 

The Knights of Columbus saved a lot of lives last year with its quarterly blood drives that raised a total of 340 pints of blood.

The Council, No. 11666, held the blood drives at St. Mary Catholic Church that drew its members, parishioners and local residents. The church is located at 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Donating one unit of blood can save at least three lives, according to Heartland Blood Centers.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members in over 13,000 local councils.  Last year, Knights donated 60 million volunteer hours and $143 million in charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
