St. Mary Knights of Columbus Plans "ChariTee" Golf Outing, Installs New Officers

The St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council members are  ready to tee off for “ChariTee” Golf Outing and dinner on Aug. 25.

The golf outing, one of the council’s annual fundraisers will be held at Crystal Woods Golf Club, Route 47 in Woodstock. The cost is $120 per golfer and includes dinner.

Proceeds benefit vocations, Knights of Columbus charities and a St. Mary family in need. For more information, contact Don Walz at 847-669-0573.

Sir Knight Quirk is a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus who is now responsible for the overall welfare of the council and will provide leadership to members.

St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus has over 250 members. The Huntley Council was founded in 1995 through the efforts of George Gow. The Huntley Council works closely with the church, providing funds and support for various charitable projects.

Charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national and international projects. Locally, there are a number of charitable activities the council sponsors, including the annual parish picnic, a Cub Scout Pack and a Boy Scout Troop, a Soccer Challenge and a Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 10-14, support for parish Pro-Life activities, contributes funds to help seminarians and assists the Youth Ministry. The council also sponsors blood drives, its latest one drew a record number of donors.

St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council 11666 operates out of Parker Hall, located in the basement of the old St. Mary Church on Woodstock Street.

General membership meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Officers meet on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. Parker Hall, old St. Mary Church Woodstock Street.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men who are at least 18 years old. Any Catholic men wanting to join the St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council should contact Ed Clausen at deputygk@huntleyknights.org.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.8 million members in over 13,000 local councils.  Last year, Knights donated 69 million volunteer hours and $151 million in charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
