Snow Giving Way to Sleet

Winter weather advisory issued through Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisory until 6 am Tuesday. The advisory calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow today with additional accumulations Tuesday morning.

Snow will turn into sleet or freezing rain by evening, according to the advisory.

The snow could reduce visibility to a mile, the weather service reports.

Additional snow will fall before noon Tuesday then turn into snow flurries, the advisory states. Predictions call for a total of 3 to 5 inches of snow by the end of this storm.

Temperatures will drop Tuesday night with a low around 8 degrees expected. The wind chill will drop as low as -3, the weather service states.

Huntley fire department reported no major incidents Monday afternoon and reported the roads were in good condition. But authorities advise motorists to drive carefully.
