The Northern Illinois Food Bank's Mobile Food Pantry is scheduled to be in Huntley on Friday, April 27.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry will stop in Huntley to reach out to local families and provide thousands of pounds of food, thanks to the Lake in the Hills Rotary Club.

The Mobile Food Pantry will be on hand from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at , 10115 Algonquin Road. It is sponsored by the Lake in the Hills Rotary Club in partnership with the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry.

Rotary member Gerald Sagona, who heads the Community Service committee, said the group sponsored the Mobile Food Pantry through monies raised at the Lake in the Hills Rockin' Ribfest, held every summer.

“This is a regional event,” Sagona said, adding the Rotary Club sponsors the Mobile Food Bank several times a year in the area and it usually draws a few hundred people.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank, based in Geneva, stocks the truck with about 10,000 pounds of food, according to the food bank’s website. The Mobile Pantry delivers meat, produce, nonperishable food and other products to areas where hunger needs surpass the capacity of existing food pantry resources, the website states.
