Huntley Residents Sound Off on 'Snow Blower Etiquette'

Snow blowers are extremely helpful after a big storm, but they can also be very noisy. How late is too late and how early is too early to fire up your snow blower?

Huntley is being hit with another winter storm.

With snow expected to fall at one to two inches per hour Tuesday afternoon and evening, residents will likely have their snow blowers revved up and ready to go.

Patch turned to Huntley Facebook fans to find out how late is too late to use your snow blower? And how early is too early?

Here are some of the answers we got over the “snow blower etiquette” question:

  • 12 midnight the latest and 7 a.m. the earliest ...
  • If someone has to get to work and they have to clear it to get there, then anytime is fair game.
  • I (say) talk to your neighbors, let them know your plans and make sure they are ok with it. A little communication ahead of time saves headaches later. Just common courtesy that way.
  •  They can be as early as they want as long as they come and plow mine too.

What do you think? Should people be respectful of their neighbors and turn off the snow blowers during certain times of the day? Let us know in the comments section.
