Huntley High Honor Society Teams up with Grafton Food Pantry

The Oct. 27 and 28 drive will be held at Jewel and Walgreen stores on Route 47.

While Grafton Food Pantry is always looking for food donations, the Huntley-based pantry also needs personal items for the families it serves.

“Personal care items like shampoo, toothpaste and deodorant are needed by everyone, but we cannot purchase these items through the food bank,” said Kathy Schneiter, president of Grafton Food Pantry.

So the food pantry and the Huntley High School National Honor Society are teaming up in an effort to collect personal care items. The drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28. High school students will be at the entrance of three Huntley stores: Jewel Osco, 13200 Village Green Drive and both Walgreens stores, located at 12000 Princeton Drive and 9950 Illinois 47.

“This collection drive helps to provide these essential items for our clients,” Schneiter said. “The students have been very enthusiastic about participating. The community was very supportive during our spring drive.”
