Huntley Fall Fest Adds More Fun

Plans are coming together for the popular annual festival, which is scheduled Sept. 23-25.

This year’s Huntley Fall Fest is adding a new element to its three-day celebration: a carnival.

“I think it will help us create the memories for the kids in town, like the memories we had growing up,” said Bryant Haniszewski, chairman of Huntley Fall Fest.

Windy City Amusements will provide the carnival rides and games. Huntley Fall Fest is scheduled the weekend of Sept. 23-25 at 12015 Mill St., the campus.

“I think the carnival is a great addition — it really fills that gap for the ’tweens and teens who are going to be able to enjoy it,” said Thom Palmer,  executive director. “I think everyone will enjoy it. I’m excited (that) we can really say we are serving every age group.”

Haniszewski estimates 10,000 people attend Huntley Fall Fest every year. This will be its sixth year and is collaboration between the Huntley Park District Foundation, the  and a volunteer committee.

The fest evolves every year with the committee adding something new. Last year, Huntley Fall Fest added a third day of activities.

Other new attractions for Huntley Fall Fest 2011: a pumpkin patch where people can buy pumpkins from Dave’s Pumpkins, a straw maze and an area where families can build a scarecrow.

Entertainment is already lined up with local favorites Modern Day Romeos, Pirates Over 40, 7th Heaven, Dave Sarkis and Josh Skaja performing on the main stage.

The main stage will have performances throughout the day featuring other local musicians. A children’s stage will feature performances too.

Returning this year is the pancake breakfast, book sale, Family Fun Run, the petting zoo and the tractor show, Haniszewski said. And there will be a fireworks show on Saturday, Sept. 24.

“There’s a lot to do,” he said.
