Huntley Community Radio Holds Pizza Wars to Find Out Who has the Best Pizza

Fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit community radio station.

 

Who has the best pizza in and around Huntley?

The winner of the Huntley Community Radio’s Pizza Wars will be able to declare the title of Pizza Champion 2013.

Huntley Community Radio, a nonprofit station currently being simulcast online, is holding a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at the Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St.

Eight pizzerias will put their signature pizza on the line and let invited taste-tester select which is the best pizza. Area pizzerias participating include Nancy’s, Papa Saverio’s, Luigi's Pizza, Nick’s Pizza & Pub, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Georgio’s Chicago Pizzeria & Pub Pontarelli’s Pizza & Pub and others.

Guest will be given a sample of each pizza and vote for their favorites.

Music will be provided by Huntley High Schools PROJECT 2, a popular student acappella ensemble that performs a variety of songs.

There will also be a demonstration of how HCR can be accessed online.

Admission to Pizza Wars is by donation of $5 per person in advance or $8 at the door. Children 12 and under is $5. Tickets can be purchased from HCR volunteers, Huntley’s Heartland and BMO Harris banks.

HCR made its debut in early 2012 with a mission to keep Huntley informed and connected with local news, community alerts, entertaining and education programming. HCR plans to erect a tower and begin transmitting as a low-power FM station for Huntley residents and nearby communities.
