Friends of McHenry County College Foundation Announces New Educational Seminar Series

Seminars touch on financial issues facing different age groups.

 

The Friends of McHenry County College Foundation has developed a new series of events called “MCC Educational Seminar Series: Helping You Build a Successful Future.”

The seminar series features a variety of financial-related and success-oriented topics to help community member_ from students to retirees_ become better informed on financial matters that affect them, including paying for college, insurance options for after age 65, market outlook for 2013, tax updates, and the value of saving money and philanthropic giving.

“We are very pleased to be presenting this free seminar series to our community,” said Bill Brennan, executive director for the Friends of McHenry County College Foundation. “The seminars will be interesting and provide attendees with some sound financial advice that will help enrich their lives.”

This monthly seminar series kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. The series opens with “Paying for College: For Your Children, Grandchildren and Yourself,” presented by Chris Werner, vice president of External Wholesales at Oppenheimer Funds, Inc.

Other seminar topics scheduled through January 2013:

  • October: Financial Aid Options and Long-Term Investment 
  • November: Discovering your Insurance Options After 65
  • December: Market Update and Outlook for 2013
  • January 2013: Tax Update
