Former Chicago Bear Shares His Journey from the Suburbs to the NFL

The former Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboy player will be speaking from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Huntley Area Public Library, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley.

Schwantz was born in Arlington Heights and graduated from Fremd High School in Palatine. He went onto to play college ball at Purdue University.

He played with the NFL from 192 to 1998. Schwantz played for the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the Cowboys when the team won the Super Bowl in 1995.

In 2009, he was elected mayor of Palatine. Currently, he is also a commentator on WBBM’s Bears pre-game and post-game shows.

Schwantz is the latest guest speaker in the Huntley Library’s Local Voices, a series of lectures that explores the lives of local residents.
