Clothes For Careers

This weekend area women will have the chance to positively impact the lives of other women looking to get back into the workforce. All that it takes is a little determination to part with clothes that no longer get worn.

dressbarn has teamed up with Dress for Success, an international nonprofit, to hold its ninth annual “Send One Suit Weekend,” running now through February 27.

The national women’s clothing retailer will serve as drop-off sites for gently used suits, dresses, skirts, slacks, blouses, belts and shoes that will be used to benefit low-income women who are looking for employment.

, 11800 Freeman Road, is one of 825 nationwide locations participating in the clothing drive. Those who donate will also receive 15 percent off a total purchase as a special thank you.

“The last thing a woman should have to worry about during a job search is whether her wardrobe will prevent her from being seriously considered for employment,” said Vivian Behrens, dressbarn chief marketing officer.

Last year, the event yielded more than 43,000 professional items of clothing in four days.  The collected items were distributed to more than 70 Dress for Success affiliates throughout the U.S. 

This year, the company is looking to beat last year’s collection by 10,000 items, with hopes to collect 50,000 items of gently-worn professional attire.
