Chicago Bears Camp One of Many Offerings This Summer

What sounds better than Camp Play-All-Day?

It’s too bad adults can’t sign up for this Huntley Park District summer camp, this is geared toward the kindergarten set. It’s just one of the many summer camps available in the area. Registration is now taking place.

 Here’s a list of a few camps:

1. Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill Street, Huntley

-Camp Play All-Day, kindergarten

-Camp Laugh-A-Lot, Grades 1-2 

-Camp Adventure for third graders

The park district is already taking registration for its summer camps until May 16 or until the program is full. The cost starts at $150 per week for the first child. For more details go to the district’s website.

2. Dance Force Studio, 11255 Kiley Drive, Unit 2, Huntley

 Dance Force Studios offers both instructional programs and competitive level dance. Summer camps cost $100 per child. This year is has several summer camps choices with session fro children kindergarten to 12th grade:

-Dance Camp

 -Pom/Hip Hop Camp

3. YMCA of McHenry County, 701 Manor Street, Crystal Lake

One of the YMCA’s oldest and largest day camps is the Triple R Camp located on the McHenry County Conservation District’s 225-acre Fel-Pro RRR Preserve, 1520 Crystal Lake Road, Cary. Triple R Camp consists of 10 one-week sessions from June 13 to Aug. 19. An open house will be held from 1 to 4pm, Saturday, April 16.

The YMCA also has camps for younger children at its Crystal Lake office. For more information, go to the Y’s website.

4. Chicago Bears Youth Football Camp

This camp will be held at the YMCA of McHenry County’s Crystal Lake location for the first time. It’s a camp for children aged 6 to 14 and will feature players like Robin Earl, Mickey Pruitt and Kris Haines. The camp will be held from July 18 to July 22. The cost is $389. To register, click here.

5. Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois

This regional camp offers a sleep-away camp option for young girls from our area. Camp McCormick is a 400-acre facility located a few miles south of Rockford, Illinois. Its facilities include a central dining hall, outdoor pool, showers, craft building, health center, hiking trails, covered wagons, Adirondacks, and platform tents.
