Centegra Recognizes Mental Health Month

This month's theme is 'Live Well: It's Essential for Your Potential'

One in four American adults live with a diagnosable, treatable mental health condition. Getting help is essential to living well.

Centegra Health System is proud to recognize Mental Health Month and offer behavioral health education, services and support to help our community members reach their full potential.

Living life well encompasses every aspect of physical and emotional health. When life becomes complicated and demanding, it is easy to feel overwhelmed.

“This is the time to reach out for help,” said Dr. Sheila Senn, director of behavioral health services at Centegra Health System. “Don’t wait until things feel out of control or unmanageable. Mental Health Month reminds us that most of us will need help at some point. It is not a personal failure; it is a fact of life.”

“The good news is there are tested and effective tools that are readily available for anyone to use to help them cope better and improve their well-being,” Senn said. “Stress can take a huge toll on a person's health, mood, productivity and relationships, but specific, evidence-based tools can help people cope much more effectively.”

Mental health influences how people think, act and cope with life and the stressors and challenges that are part of the human experience. The state of one’s mental health affects the ways in which they look at themselves, their lives and others around them. It also affects people’s physical health and well-being.

Centegra’s Behavioral Health Department promotes Mental Health Wellness through the comprehensive approach to care offered in its programs that treat emotional, psychiatric and substance abuse problems.  The continuum of care offered includes inpatient services, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, a continuing care program and a family program.

These services are found at Centegra Specialty Hospital–Woodstock, South Street, 527 West South Street.
