Catch the Holiday Spirit at Huntley’s Christmas on the Square

Huntley celebrates annual holiday festival on Saturday, Dec. 1.

 

Santa will arrive in Huntley on Saturday during the 2nd annual holiday lights parade, which caps off the Christmas on the Square celebration.

Christmas on the Square begins at noon on the James C. Dhamer Town Square on Coral Street between Woodstock and Church Streets. The holiday lights parade starts at 4 p.m.

A craft fair, cookie walk, crafts, free hayrides and a live nativity scene are some of the activities available throughout the day.

The Whitechapel Handbell Choir of First Congregational Church will hold performances at 1 and 3 p.m.

Watch Trinity Lutheran Church perform a live nativity in front of their church on Church Street.

Holiday Lights Parade

This year’s theme is Santa’s Workshop. Bundle up and watch the parade kick off from Ol’ Timer Park travel south on Church Street to Main Street to Woodstock Street and end on Coral Street.  The parade will conclude with the arrival of Santa at which time there will be caroling, free hot chocolate and the lighting of the holiday tree and the Town Square.

The lighting of the holiday tree follows at 4:30 p.m. in the gazebo. Free photos of Santa in the gazebo will be available for families from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A photographer will be on hand or you can bring your own camera.

The village of Huntley, Friends of the Huntley Library and the Huntley Park District are sponsoring Christmas on the Square.
