$4.1M in Road Projects Announced for Huntley

More than $4.1 million in road improvement projects for Huntley was announced this past week by Gov. Pat Quinn.

The project involves the replacement of a bridge carrying Kreutzer Road over the Kishwaukee River in the village of Huntley. The work also involves roadway and intersection improvements at Route 47 and Main Street.

“This project will make traffic flow more safely and smoothly in Huntley,” Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates was the lowest of four bidders at $4,171,563. The contract was recently awarded following a competitive bidding process.

"I am pleased that the Huntley project is well underway," said Rep. Tim Schmitz (R-Batavia). "Apart from bringing much needed construction jobs to our area, I am confident our residents will ultimately come to appreciate the safer and more efficient travel that will benefit this region."

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

"Officials from Huntley, McHenry County and the State of Illinois continue to work very well together on transportation improvement projects in this growing area of the state," said Rep. Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake). "The bridge project on Kreutzer Road addresses a particularly important safety issue, and the improvements at Route 47 and Main Street will make one of Huntley's busiest intersections safer for both motorists and pedestrians."
