Pioneer Center's Moonlight & Music Breaks Record

Letter Submitted by Laurie Bivona, Director of Marketing for Pioneer Center:

A little bit of rain…OK, a lot of rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the over 250 people who celebrated with Pioneer Center at this year’s Moonlight & Music event.  Although the outdoor concert became an indoor party…it was the organization’s most successful event ever—netting more than $140,000!

This year’s attendees were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime arrangement of nine amazing Chicago-area musicians who came together to create Caribé Latin Jazz Orchestra. While dancing to the enchanting sounds of Latin jazz, everyone enjoyed superb service and delicious food provided by the Crystal Lake Country Club.

“Between the efforts of the Pioneer Center Auxiliary, the charitable support provided by local business leaders and the generosity of the event-goers, Moonlight & Music continues to exceed our expectations,” said Christin Kruse, Chief Development Officer for Pioneer Center.  “The sense of community and the infectious atmosphere one feels at this event is unsurpassed.”

A highlight came midway through the evening as testimonials about long-time clients of the organization were shared.  Each story showed the fundamental need for a new philosophy model Pioneer Center is embarking on called “community inclusion.”

This new model is not currently funded by the State of Illinois, thus the launching of The Faces of Pioneer Annual Giving Campaign during the event’s mission-moment.

The campaign offers the community opportunities to sponsor the more than 500 clients with a developmental disability that Pioneer Center serves.  Community inclusion embraces the need for individuals with developmental disabilities to not only live in their community but to fully take part of and be active within that community.

At the end of the night, Moonlight & Music attendees sponsored 161 clients.  Opportunities continue to be available throughout the year to sponsor clients and individuals can learn more by visiting www.pioneercenter.org or calling 815.759.7144.
