Frankses Profiled in Leading Lawyers Magazine

(Marengo, IL)    Herb and Jack Franks of the McHenry County law firm, Franks, Gerkin & McKenna, P.C., are featured in the August edition of the prestigious Leading Lawyers Magazine. Published quarterly, Leading Lawyers Magazine is a division of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, which has served the legal and business communities of the Chicago area for over 150 years.

Herb Franks is the Managing Partner of the firm and specializes in Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation law. Jack Franks, Herb’s son, also a partner, focuses on Complex Commercial Litigation, General Business Law, Injury Law and Multinational and Commercial Litigation. An active and aggressive legislator since elected in 1999, Jack serves as the State Representative for the 63rd District in Illinois which includes the north and west parts of McHenry County. The Frankses have taken issue with the corruption in the State of Illinois and are dedicated to helping local constituency uphold what is right.

Securing the first million-dollar judgment in McHenry County, Herb Franks continues to have a powerful statewide and national reputation. Herb participates in professional leadership groups such as Lawyers Trust Fund and the Courts Commission, and is the former President of the Illinois Bar Association.

Jack Franks initiated impeachment proceedings against former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, leading to his removal, and continues to fight to protect the rights of citizens.

 Natives to the Marengo area, Herb Franks started practicing law in 1961. In 2000, Herb built a spectacular Frank Lloyd Wright inspired office building on farmland his father purchased in 1943 where Franks, Gerkin & McKenna is located. Herb completed his undergraduate work at Roosevelt University in Chicago and completed his legal education at American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1960. Before opening his own firm, Herb was a partner at Canfield, Canfield and Franks in Rockford for 11 years.

Jack Franks joined the practice in 1993. Jack completed his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and studied abroad in both Brazil and London. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jack obtained his law degree at the American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.

            Franks, Gerkin & McKenna has grown since 1972 in breadth and depth. Now home to 10 attorneys, it has become one of the largest law firms in the area.
