Election Day Poll Workers Needed In Arlington Heights

Cook County Clerk David Orr is recruiting equipment managers to serve in Arlington Heights polling places on Election Day.

“Every election is vital to the democratic process and equipment managers play a key role in making that process a success,” Orr said.

Equipment managers are election judges who have the additional responsibility of working with the voting equipment. Equipment managers are paid a $300 stipend. They must complete more training than election judges.

Equipment managers are particularly needed in Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Buffalo Grove, Elgin, Elk Grove, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Streamwood and Wheeling.

Bilingual applicants are also needed to assist voters with Spanish and Hindi.

To qualify, you must live in Cook County and be a registered voter OR a college student with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Equipment managers are required:

  • To complete two 3.5-hour hands-on training sessions and an online training;
  • To have a car and cell phone;
  • To travel outside of their home area if needed;
  • To set up their polling place the night before the election;
  • To arrive at their precinct by 5 a.m. and work until the votes are transmitted after the polls close at 7 p.m.;
  • To troubleshoot the voting equipment throughout Election Day;
  • To drop off ballots and results at a nearby receiving station at the end of the night;
  • To be able to lift (with assistance) the voting equipment.
