Your Guide to the 2012 Sunset Festival

This year's festival will kick off this Friday, Aug. 31 and will continue through Sunday, Sept. 2.

 

The 2011 Summer Sunset Festival in Lake in the Hills is scheduled for Friday, Sept, 2 through Sunday, Sept. 4.

With carnival rides, entertainment scheduled for each night, a parade Saturday morning, plenty of events and competitions scheduled throughout the days and an awesome fireworks display to round off the weekend, we want to make sure you are covered on where to go and when. 

2012 SUNSET FESTIVAL 

Cost: It's free and so is parking! Things you will have to pay for: carnival rides, games, food and beverages.

Cost for ride wristbands: Unlimited ride wristbands for one day cost $20. Regular tickets are $1 each or $40 for a sheet of 44 tickets. The wristbands are available for unlimited rides between the following hours each day: Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. 

ParadeThe parade will kick off at 10 a.m on Saturday. The parade route (here is a link to the route) will start at Grafton Farm Drive and Miller Road in Lake in the Hills and continue a mile east along Miller Road. The parade will end at Miller and Albrecht road. 

Main stage entertainmentThere will be music ... and lots of it! For more on who performs and when, visit here.

Sunset Festival 5KThe race will start at 7 p.m. Friday at Sunset Park. There is still time to sign up! The cost is $30. Race day registration will be available.

Parking: It's free! This map will help you find the parking area and here are detailed directions to Sunset Park, 5200 Haligus Road.

I love the parade because I'm in it with the Algonquin Academy of Dance! Look forward to it each year!
