Winter Weather Advisory Issued: More Snow on the Way

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for McHenry County, which could make for a messy Monday morning commute.

McHenry County is on the "snow side" of a weather system that has prompted the National Weather Service in Chicago to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for our area.

The advisory runs from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon on Monday.

Snow is expected to begin falling late Sunday night and continue through Monday morning, with the heaviest accumulations between midnight and 5 a.m., the NWS states.

The storm is expected to impact the Northern counties in Illinois - Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Kane, DuPage, Cook and Lake - as well as southern Wisconsin and Northwest Indiana.

Snowfall totals could range from three to five inches north of the storm front, which stretches from north of Rockford to Chicago and Valparaiso, according to the NWS.

Heavier amounts of snow are possible in areas of Lake and Cook counties near Lake Michigan late Monday morning and into the afternoon.
