Who Has the Best French Fries in McHenry County?

Vote for your favorite restaurant for french fries by commenting below.

When it comes down to a side-order choice between a salad, baked potato or french fries, which gets your vote?

For me, french fries are hard to pass up.

But let's be honest, they aren't all delicious. Some are soggy or burnt to a crisp, or are just too greasy or not greasy enough. These are not the types of french fries we are looking for during this week's Chowdown Showdown french fry challenge.

Let us know in our comments' section which restaurant or fast-food joint serves up the best french fries in McHenry County.

Voting will be a bit different starting this week and moving forward.

We will take comments in this article through Tuesday, March 6. Voting will stop at 5 p.m.

We will select the top finalists — the restaurants with the most comments — and place them in our finalists' poll. That poll will post on all McHenry County Patch sites the morning of Wednesday, March 7.

As has been the case in the past, we will take votes through the poll. This poll is not scientific, and moving forward, it will not be the sole consideration in choosing a winner.

The winner will be determined based on poll results, comments on this page and on ratings and reviews on Patch Places. Hint: The ratings and reviews count extra. This Patch.com column has more information on how we will determine our Chowdown Showdown winners.

With that said, let us get the voting started. Tell us Patch readers, where is your favorite place to get french fries in McHenry County?

About this column: Each week, the McHenry County Patch sites will be on the hunt for the best place to get certain entrees in the area. The Chowdown Showdown will allow readers to vote on where their favorite place is to get a burger or a latte or a steak, etc., in the county. It came about because of your prodding, Dan. Thanks for the french fries suggestion and thanks for reading Patch!

@michael... no, michael. you changed the format because of the silly wiener debate on here with the daygo dogs guy. and also because this once a week thing made you realize that you would be doing 'favorite condiment' by july.

by the way, patch should invest in a 15 year old computer programmer who can link your facebook to patch so you guys don't have to say 'another facebook vote for mcdonalds from cary'....lol.

@dan...Another great idea, Dan. Genius. And you're right about stretching it out. Because everyone knows there's only a handful of foods remaining. I can only think of three more, actually. And gaining those crucial extra three weeks should really make everything better. Thanks for reading Patch, Dan!

Well, I was going to nominate the Algonquin Sub SHop; but considering your new format I might as well also nominate McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Culvers, and the H D Jacobs high school cafeteria. Your new format is totally absurd.

Dukes Alehouse. All their fries are good but their Sweet Potato Fries with ginger dip is awesome!
